The Roots- How I Got Over

FAN ADMISSION 2!!!

If you are anything like me, you were excited to hear that The Roots were to release a new album.  Well, "How I Got Over" has finally dropped and it's definitely worth the listen.  This album may not be The Roots best work (with Game Theory and Things Fall Apart being slightly better in my opinion), but it's definitely up there.  There are a lot of great songs on here and some interesting collaborations... "Dear God 2.0" is a vast improvement over the Monsters of Folk song that it samples.  Another pleasant surprise the song "Right On" which samples one of our favorites Joanna Newsom (who seems to pop up in these blogs quite often).  All of your other Roots collaborators are there Peedi Peedi, P.O.R.N., and Dice Raw to name a few.  Newer collaborators and samples on other songs include John Legend and The Dirty Projectors.  Overall, this record is another classic piece of hip hop and a very solid return from The Roots.  Make sure to listen to this record and enjoy, it may be the last from The Legendary Roots Crew.
